I honestly can't believe that summer is here. I feel like for the first time since moving to the Pacific Northwest, I haven't been counting the days. I've also been able to get a second planting into many of the gardens, which has never happened before. I've happily planted a round of green beans and more lettuce, hoping that at least some will grow - I've forgotten how the giant maple above the back garden grows too quickly, shading a little more of the sun each year. Oh how I wish I could reach that tree.
I'm on the home stretch of Spring sewing, and gave myself a firm deadline for finishing all shorts in progress. Just because enough is enough. I mean, 2 years for one pair is a bit ridiculous! I finished up a few different pairs, this one being my favorite. And thankfully both girls will still wear handmade clothes, although the list of acceptable items is dwindling down quickly.
After a late start to summer and a very late last day of school this year, our summer has finally begun. To celebrate, we spent this past weekend picking blueberries out in the sun. And now it really feels like summer - thankfully the sun has returned once again.
(The shorts are a pair of Oliver + S Sunny Day Shorts - another free pattern)
